Dr. Rajesh Kumar has been working as Associate Professor of Physics since 2016. Dr. Kumar joined as Assistant Professor of Physics at University School of Basic and Applied Sciences, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (Govt. of NCT. of Delhi), New Delhi, India in 2008. He was promoted in 2013 in grade pay Rs. 8000/ AGP (Assistant Professor of Physics) through direct recruitment. He obtained his Ph.D degree on 'Ion Induced Modification in Polymers and their Characterizations’ from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India in 2003. After completing his Ph.D., he joined Department of Physics, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, India as Post-Doctoral Fellow in a South Korean research project. In April, 2005 he joined again Department of Applied Physics, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh as Research Associate (C.S.I.R), Govt. of India. In 2006 he received Young Scientist Award from DST, Govt. of India for three years. In 2008 he was appointed as Physics Lecturer through Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Joined Ranchi University (Department of Physics, Ranchi College), Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. In 2015 he was selected as Associate Professor of Physics (Permanent) in Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCS University), Meerut, U.P., India but did not join.

Dr. Kumar pursued his post-doctoral research at Center for Future Energy System (CEFES), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), New York, USA. He worked on Synthesis of new Energy Storage Materials (Perovskites Material), Nano Materials, Graphene Oxide, Graphene and Carbon nanotubes (CNT), Thin films, Photolithography etc. and on structural modification of energy storage devices to harness the energy storage capacity of high energy density anodes. He is recipient of several fellowships and awards such as (i) Indo-Russian (Visiting Scientist-2011 at Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (J.I.N.R.) Dubna, Russia, (ii) DST-ICTP Fellowship awarded-2006 by Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India, (iii) Indo-US Postdoctoral Raman Fellowship-2016 award by University Grants Commission (UGC), Govt. of India New Delhi, (iv) C.S.I.R, Govt. of India Research Associate Award-2005 by CSIR, Govt. of India and (v) Inter University Consortium for DAE facilities-2001, Kolkata Centre, India etc. During his Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral research he utilized ion beam facilities at various research centers as Ion Beam Laboratory at University of Albany, New York, USA, J.I.N.R, Dubana, Russia, Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), New Delhi, India, Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneswar, India, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai and Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), Kolkata, India.

His current research activities are related to Materials Science, Nanotechnology and Condensed Matter Physics which include synthesis of oxide based thin films, template-based electro deposition of metal and semiconductor nanowires, oxide-based nanocomposites, ion beam engineering of nanostructure materials, for diverse applications in: Energy storage devices (Lithium-ion battery and Supercapacitor), Gas sensors, Nuclear spectroscopy and Radiation Physics etc. He has expertise in various synthesis techniques like atomic layer deposition (ALD), pulse laser deposition (PLD), RF sputtering, E-beam deposition and other chemical methods. He has research experience of more than 20 years regarding irradiation of different materials like: Metal oxide nanomaterials, metals, semiconductors, Nanowires, conducting and insulating polymers/nanocomposite polymers, thin films and MoS2 etc. He has passion for teaching and research.

In recognition to his valuable and worthy research contributions, he was conferred with the Best Researcher Award in 2010 (Rs. 15000/-) as well as in 2013 (Rs. 10000/-) and Faculty Achievement Award in 2015 (Rs. 100000/-) by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (Govt. of NCT of Delhi), New Delhi, India. He was also awarded 'RULA AWARDS' (2018) by IJRULA, accredited by Idamas Learning Center, Malaysia.

He has published over 125 papers (104 in International Journals and 21 in National Journals) in the peer- reviewed international and national journals and more than 125 papers in International/National conferences/workshops/seminars presented/accepted and eight (08) in Conference Proceedings. He has delivered Invited talks in many International/National Conferences and chaired the sessions. Dr. Kumar and his Ph.D students got many Best Oral/Poster research paper awards in International and National Conferences. He has also contributed two chapters in the book published by Springer and Elsevier. Dr. Kumar has attended more than hundred (100) conferences/workshops/seminars etc., both National and International.

Dr. Kumar is on Editorial Board of (i) Journal of Polymer Science and Engineering, USA, (ii) American Journal of Applied Scientific Research and (iii) Current Chinese Science Journal.

He was nominated by the Director, IUAC, New Delhi as an IUAC Nominee in the JRF selection committee of IUAC, funded research projects for three years (2013-2016). Dr. Kumar h-index and i-10 are 23 and 56. He has been appointed as examiner of Ph.D./M.Tech for Viva-Voce at various Universities and Institutes.

He has been a member in scientific societies of repute like: Member in Scientific Advisory Committee in International Nuclear Track Society, Life Member of Nuclear Track Society (NTSI) of India, Secretary of Nuclear Track Society (NTSI) of India, Life Member of Indian Physics Teachers Association (IPTA), Life Member in Soft Materials Research Society, Life Member of Indian Association of Nuclear Chemists and Allied Scientists (IANCAS) Pelletron user at Inter University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi, India. He has also organized International and National Conferences.

Dr. Kumar has been appointed to have many academic and administrative responsibilities in the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University like: Assistant Proctor, SRC and BOS member, Deputy Center Superintendent, Additional Center Superintendent of University Spot Evaluation of End Term Exam (2014-2019), Admission Officer of various courses, Joint Assessment Committee (JAC) and Academic Audit in GGSIPU affiliated colleges as Convener, for conducting University CET Exams (B.Tech, M.B.B.S, M.D., MCA, MBA, BBA etc.) as University Representative (UR) at different centers all over India (2008-2019), Course Coordinator/Co- coordinator of PGDRP, M.Tech (EP) course Co-coordinator, Lab In charge (B.Tech, M.Tech (EP) and PG- DRP), Member in time table committee, Member in University Convocation function, Member in university ragging committee, University Technical Fest (Anugoonj), Convener School Library Committee, and Member in CARE-Consortium for Academic and Research Ethics committee under IIQAC etc.

Currently, he is reviewer of many SCI Journals from Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Taylor and Francis etc. Dr. Kumar has more than 15 years of experience in teaching various Under Graduate (UG), Post Graduate (PG) and Doctoral (Ph.D) Courses and more than 20 years of research experience. He has 3 ongoing research projects sanctioned by different funding agencies and completed 12 research projects funded by DST, Govt. of India, UGC, Govt. of India, IUAC, Govt. of India, DAE-BRNS, Govt. of India and GGSIP University (Govt. of NCT. of Delhi), New Delhi, India.

He has active international collaborations with Department of Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering and Department of Material Science and Engineering, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York-United States of America (USA) and Advanced Materials Research Laboratory, University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras San Juan, USA. He has guided/guiding Ten Ph.D (Physics) (06 awarded & 01 submitted). Currently, one Ph.D. research scholar is writing his Ph.D thesis, two (02) are working and guided 20 M.Tech (Engineering Physics) dissertations. His recent publications have been published in high impact factor Journals such as Advanced Functional Materials (Impact Factor-16.84), ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces (Impact Factor- 8.84) and Carbon (Impact Factor-8.83).

Dr. Kumar has visited more than twelve countries for his academic and research pursuits wherein USA, UK, Mexico, Russia, Poland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, Finland, China and Australia are primarily worth-mentioning.
